The Latest Updates on COVID-19 and Timeshare

Coronavirus and Travel

While the world was seemingly put on hold over the past few months due to the COVID-19 pandemic, some hospitality companies are starting to welcome guests again. Whether it be timeshare resorts, restaurants or retail stores, the entertainment section of our lives definitely took a hit. However, the United States is lifting restrictions on a state-by-state basis, and some states on a county-by-county basis. Below is the latest updates regarding timeshare resorts and travel.

Disney Parks Reopening

In late May, Disney shared its plans to reopen parks and resorts across the United States. Fortunate for eager travelers, Shanghai Disney and Disney Springs reopened on May 20.

Undoubtedly, these two openings have paved the way for many other theme parks across the globe with regards to how they will go about reopening.

It is expected that the Walt Disney World resort hotels will reopen June 22 with Walt Disney World parks reopening beginning July 11. When the parks reopen, guests who are three years of age and up will be required to wear masks as well as have their temperature checked prior to entering the park. It is expected that guidelines similar to this will be implemented at other venues across the United States.

Disney released this statement regarding ticket sales: “At this time, we are temporarily pausing new ticket sales and Disney Resort hotel reservations… Existing ticket holders and Annual Passholders will be able to make reservation requests in phases before new tickets are sold; we’ll be reaching out to these guests soon to provide additional details.”

Disney Vacation Club Reopening

On June 10, 2020, Disney shared its further intentions to promote a safe environment for all guests when they return to the resort hotels. Traveling amidst the COVID-19 pandemic has been a hotly debated topic, but many resorts are confident with their plans to get back to normalcy.

Disney is going to promote online check-ins when available as well as clean every guests room every other day. In their blog, they detailed that DVC members will receive the same cleaning procedures as pre-COVID-19.

Disney Vacation Club shared a blog and infographic detailing their plans to keep things sanitized as groups of guests return. Many members are looking forward to getting their vacation plans back in order, as many have been auto-canceled since the pandemic began. Speculation has risen among guests in regard to which types of vacations are being canceled first.
