On March 10, 2021 Hilton Grand Vacations Club announced that they have entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Diamond Resorts. The stock-based transaction has an equity value of approximately $1.4 billion.
The acquisition will merge vacation club powerhouse HGV and Diamond Resorts, the largest independent timeshare operator. The combined company will now operate 154 resorts and have over 720,000 owners. HGV’s 62 upscale properties and Diamond’s 92 resorts will create the largest offering of ownership opportunities in the industry. Upon merging, Hilton will diversify their portfolio and expand its business into over 20 new markets. Through this agreement, the number of vacation options will double for the combined owner base. Diamond’s resorts will boost HGV’s already vast selection of beach and attraction-based resorts, while also adding more drive-to destinations in desert and mountain regions.
